Blue Flower

April Jacobs Johnson battled cancer for 5 years before finally succumbing on April 5, 2012.  During that time she served as an inspiration to all who knew her by living her life on her terms.  When she was first diagnosed, she stated that, "Cancer is a disease, not a way of life.  I'm going to treat it just like any other illness."  She did exactly that by staying active in her work and activities until the very end.  One of the ways that she was able to do that was through the use of a motorized scooter.  Someone had donated a scooter to her oncologist for their use.  The oncologist allowed patients to use this scooter, at no cost, for as long as they needed it.  It was through this generous act that April was able to attend and celebrate her sister's wedding in Florida a month before she passed.

In honor of this life sustaining generosity, the April Jacob Johnson Memorial Fund's first program is called "Bridging the Gap".  The Fund has teamed up with our generous vendor, Med-Ability Medical Supply to offer cancer patients recommended through approved oncologists located in Bergen County, New Jersey, a motorized scooter for their use.  The patient, once approved, would contact Bach's and make arrangements for delivery and sign the rental contract, and the Fund would receive and pay the monthly rental bill.  This way, April's determination that cancer not become a way of life, will be carried on by others.

Please help us to help others "Bridge the Gap" by making a tax-deductible donation to the Fund.  It takes $250 per month to help one cancer patient retain their ability to go to the market, visit with friends, attend events or even attend their house of worship.  All of this is made possible through your help.  If your company matches your donation, please make sure to let us know what you need to make that happen.

If you prefer to pay by check, you can mail it to us at: April Jacobs Johnson Memorial Fund, 39-06 Berdan Avenue, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410.

Please help us help others.
